Introduction

Marwari College, Ranchi is committed to fostering an inclusive, socially responsible and quality-conscious academic environment. Through the initiatives undertaken by the College, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) encourages practices that address the needs of students and the wider campus community while promoting social responsibility, student participation and institutional development.

Best Practice 1: Uniform Bank for Underprivileged Students

An Initiative for Inclusive and Equitable Education

The Uniform Bank for Underprivileged Students is a student welfare initiative launched at Marwari College, Ranchi under the aegis of the Principal, Dr. Manoj Kumar, on 1^st December 2022. The initiative was introduced to support students who were unable to afford college uniforms and, as a result, had remained absent from the mid-semester examination.

The initiative provides uniforms to students in need through a collaborative model involving the collection of usable uniforms from pass-out students and contributions from faculty members. This approach not only provides practical assistance to economically disadvantaged students but also promotes a culture of sharing, reuse and social responsibility within the College community.

Objectives

To support students who face financial difficulties in purchasing college uniforms.
To ensure that lack of a uniform does not become a barrier to academic participation or examinations.
To promote inclusivity and equal opportunities among students.
To encourage students and faculty members to contribute towards student welfare.
To promote the reuse of usable uniforms and reduce unnecessary wastage.

Impact

The Uniform Bank has already supported more than 80 students. The College also pledged to arrange more than 200 uniforms for the 2023–2026 batch, demonstrating its commitment to continuing and expanding the initiative. The initiative represents a practical example of how collective institutional efforts can help address financial barriers faced by students and contribute towards a more inclusive learning environment.

Best Practice 2: NSS Initiative for Campus Hygiene

Promoting Hygiene through Student Participation

Marwari College, Ranchi also undertakes initiatives aimed at maintaining a clean, healthy and hygienic campus environment. As part of this effort, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of the institution manufacture handwash and sanitizers to cater to the personal hygiene and campus hygiene needs of the College community.

The initiative provides an opportunity for NSS volunteers to contribute directly to the well-being of students, faculty and staff while strengthening the values of community service, responsibility and active student participation.
